Haim, a pediatrician, woke up on Saturday to the sound of Iron Dome intercepts. He quickly rushed his wife, six young children, and mother-in-law to the safe room. Having immigrated from the U.S. only a few years before, he wasn't sure what was happening. After checking on a neighbor, he turned on his phone and saw the WhatsApp exchanges among residents. Later, he was called to help triage injured soldiers and civilians who were brought to Shuva's gates and needed to be evacuated for treatment. While there, he received the last call from his father, who passed away in the U.S. two days later.
When things got under control, Haim returned to his family and eventually evacuated them to Ktora and later to Almog. He began sitting Shiva after getting the news of his dad's passing. Later, he also started treatment for the trauma he experienced. Months after the attacks, he found it difficult to return to his previous work and was contemplating a different way of practicing medicine.
